Dr. Wohn‘s research area is in human-computer interaction (HCI) and computer-mediated communication. She studies the role of algorithms and social interactions in livestreaming, esports, gaming, and social media.
I am a Ph.D. student in Information System.
I have a masters degree in marketing research and one-year working experience in e-commerce. My research interests are related to social media, e-commerce,and online shopping. Currently, I am working on a project about livestreaming shopping.
Mashael Almoqbel is an Information Systems Ph.D. student. She has a one year working experience as a teaching assistant. Mashael is interested in social media, public safety, and social good in general through the use of computing.
Undergraduate Research Assistants
Nicholas is an junior Computer Engineering student here at NJIT. He is the captain of the NJIT competitive collegiate Overwatch team for the past two years. This year is also participating as captain of the Hearthstone tournament for NJIT as well. This is his first time participating in research here and is very eager to learn and provide as much as he can to the team.
Soojin Ahn is an undergraduate student studying Computing and Business at New Jersey Institute of Technology. She is excited to be part of the Social Interaction Lab and participating in the Wine Collection App project this semester and looks forward to developing her app development and entrepreneurial skills. Soojin is invested in helping sustainability efforts on campus through her leadership position in NJITGreen and plans to minor in environmental science. By working at the lab this semester, she hopes to expand her horizons and develop a successful Wine Collection App.
Pradnya Desai is a first-year Computer Engineering major. This is her first semester conducting research. She is interested in machine learning and wants to gain insight on the interactions between human and machine intelligence. She likes writing and is the Writing Editor for the Honors Newsletter and Co-Writing Editor for the Honors Technology Observer magazine. She serves as Community Service Chair for Girl Up, steps up for women in technology, and endeavors to help girls in developing countries gain an education. Pradnya wants to use her research as a stepping stone to learning about artificial intelligence.
Mahi Gada is an undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Business at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She is experienced in Python and Java and enjoys developing programs and challenging herself by going to hackathons. Mahi is excited to work with Dr. Wohn in the Social Interaction Lab to gain experience and expanding her skill set. Mahi spends her free time on campus as events lead of Girl Up as well as a member of Ehsaas Dance Team and hopes to put her leadership skills to use in the research lab.
Naitam is a first-year student who’s persuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering at NJIT. As a computer science and business enthusiast, He is part of the Wine Collection App project at the Social Interaction Lab. At this lab, he wants to practice his entrepreneurship and business development skills. He has previously been part of a team that created an automated garden sprinkler system at a Hackathon. He is also interested in researching statistics and probability of betting sites. Naitam is looking forward to building valuable skills as a programmer and a businessmen
Peter Hany Eskander
I am a junior studying Human-Computer Interaction. Although this is not my first year doing research, it is my first year doing usability research. I am highly motivated to push our knowledge boundaries further. In my downtime, I like to play soccer or take my camera and go take some pictures outdoors. Currently, I am working on a project looking at virtual currencies and virtual economy and I can’t wait to see what the outcome will bring us!
Peter is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Business and Information Systems at NJIT. This is his second-semester doing research and is excited to continue to learn from this opportunity. This past summer he was a Program/Project management intern at MassMutual Financial Group. In addition, he’s been a programming instructor for iD Tech Camps and a TA for CS107. Some of his interests are music production, photography, and human linguistics.
I am an undergraduate Computer Science and IT double degree student at NJIT. My IT specialization is on Game Development. This will be my third semester doing research and I am currently working on projects related to content moderation and esports. In the future I would like to work at a AAA game studio as a programmer.n
Aashka Patel is a first-year undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. This is her second-semester conducting research in the Social Interaction Lab.
Last semester she worked on a content moderation project. This semester she is excited to be working on a new project related to stroke rehabilitation. She has previous experience in being a robotics instructor, teaching programming languages, and interning under the CTO of Rockaway Borough School District. She is looking forward to developing her skills in the lab and collaborating with her peers and professionals.
I am a freshman majoring in Computer Engineering in my first semester. I am highly motivated in research and eager to embark on my journey in researching live streaming and content moderation, as I find the whole process intriguing. I am ecstatic to be apart of the team, making great new connections and can’t wait to work in the Social Interaction Lab
Sarah Ryu is currently a first-year undergraduate student majoring in Human-Computer Interaction. This is her second semester with the Social Interaction Lab at NJIT. Through research, she hopes to learn more about the relationships and interactions between humans and technology to one day improve those interactions for the greater good. Her strengths are design and illustration, however, she is interested in studying user experience design and its applications in therapy and child development.
I am a first year undergraduate student studying Computer Science. This is my first semester doing research. I am very interested in esports and online interaction as it effects may of us everyday. I cant wait to further the research and understand this developing environment more.
I am a first year undergraduate student in the Honors College majoring in Information Technology with a specialization in video game development. I really enjoy playing League of Legends as well as creating mods for games. I really hope to work with a team on developing a large game in the future. This spring semester is my second semester working with the Social Interaction Lab and I hope to continue to gain experience doing research as well as interacting with others.
I am an undergraduate student in my sophomore year majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Data Analytics. My research topic is ‘Using games for stroke rehabilitation.’ I am really looking forward to expand my knowledge, fill in my curiosity about learning new stuff and collaborate with my team members & professor. In terms of programming, I have experience in python, java, a little bit of C and currently learning C++. Other than my classes, I like to participate in coding competitions.
I am going to be a Junior majoring in Human-Computer Interaction with minors in Business & Computer Science. I’m the HCI Major Representative in the Student Senate and the Professional Chair of Alpha Kappa Psi. This is my second semester working in the Social Interaction Lab and I am excited to learn from this opportunity and gain valuable skills in research.
I am currently a junior majoring in Human Computer Interaction. I am the vice president of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles. This will be my first time working in any sort of lab, but I am very interested in any kind of research regarding gaming.
I am a third year undergraduate student at NJIT studying Computer Science. I’m really interested in culinary and photography, but my two biggest hobbies are playing video games and building software. This is my first semester conducting research with a team and I’m very excited to start working on something new.
John Siri is currently a Junior in the Human Computer Interaction Undergraduate Program at NJIT. This is John’s second semester doing research. Areas of interest to him include interactive media, streaming, social interactions online, and the structures that accompany them. John hopes that doing research will both give insight into this and will help expand his skills and experiences for future work. John is currently the Secretary of NJIT Game Club and a part of the NJIT Honors College.
Jira is an undergraduate Computer Science student at NJIT, concentrating in Video Game Development. Her love for video games is her main drive for everything she does. Outside of school and work, she streams on Twitch and competitively plays Super Smash Bros, Hearthstone, and Tekken 7, and is very involved with the tri-state communities for these games. Having this background, she is also the Vice President of NJIT’s Gaming Coalition (NGC). Over the summer, she interned for Celgene as their Digital Innovations Analyst within their Business Operations department, and has been extended to work part-time over the fall semester. While at Celgene, Jira also assisted in research involving CAR-T and Abraxane. Jira is always eager to learn new things and is very excited to experience her first semester doing research in the Social Interaction Lab.
